The oak meadows in April and May are in their splendour. But there are beauties at other times of the year.  Some of the first shooting stars are already out.  The plant below was salvaged from a machinery site in February.  The older shooting stars in this garden are just in bud. The trees themselves are also budding, as are the chocolate and fawn lilies and the kinnikinnik.  So far, the camas are just leaves, seen behind the fawn lilies.  The rare coastal wood fern, under the small Garry oaks, is just unfurling its new evergreen leaves.
