I noticed this little gem in my woods today. The flower is only about a centimeter across. Last summer the Cross Island Trail was being built along the frontage of Central Park. In places where it went behind the big fir trees it encroached into the DCA lands. At Jenny’s suggestion, I salvaged some of the forest floor plants that would be removed in the construction of the trail.
